Quality Roofing Without the Premium Roofer Price

Your roof is one of the most important systems protecting your home. At Mr. Mike’s Home Repair, we believe homeowners should not have to choose between quality materials, proper installation, and a fair price.

Our goal is simple: provide one of the best roofing systems available while keeping our pricing as affordable as possible. We use Owens Corning® Duration® architectural shingles, synthetic underlayment, properly placed ice-and-water barrier, and dependable pipe-boot options on every qualifying roof replacement.

We focus our pricing on what it should actually cost to install a quality roof—not on charging the highest price the market will accept.

Why We Use Owens Corning® Duration® Shingles

We install Owens Corning® TruDefinition® Duration® shingles because they combine excellent protection, dependable performance, and attractive color options at a reasonable cost.

SureNail® Technology

Duration® shingles feature Owens Corning’s patented SureNail® Technology—a reinforced, highly visible fastening area that helps our roofers place nails accurately and consistently.

This reinforced nailing zone provides additional holding strength where the shingles are fastened to the roof deck. Proper fastening is especially important in coastal North Carolina, where roofs may be exposed to strong winds, heavy rain, and tropical weather.

Excellent Wind Performance

When installed according to Owens Corning’s requirements, qualifying Duration® roofing systems may be eligible for wind warranty coverage of up to 130 or 160 MPH, depending on the specific shingle, components, fastening method, and installation details.

All manufacturer warranty coverage is subject to Owens Corning’s current terms, limitations, registration requirements, and approved installation methods.

Attractive Architectural Appearance

TruDefinition® Duration® shingles use blended colors, contrast, and shadow lines to give a roof more depth than a basic three-tab shingle. Homeowners can choose from several colors to complement their siding, brick, trim, and exterior finishes.

A Roof Is More Than Just Shingles

The shingles may be the most visible part of your roof, but they are only one component of a complete roofing system. The materials underneath the shingles—and the way vulnerable areas are protected—can make the difference between a dependable roof and an early leak.

Our roof-replacement process includes the protective components needed to build the roof correctly from the decking up.

Synthetic Underlayment on Every Roof

We use synthetic roofing underlayment instead of traditional felt paper on our shingle roof replacements.

Synthetic underlayment provides a strong secondary layer of protection between the roof decking and shingles. It is designed to resist tearing, lay flatter, and provide dependable coverage while the roofing system is being installed.

We do not downgrade to basic felt simply to reduce the price of the job.

Ice-and-Water Barrier in Vulnerable Areas

We install self-adhering ice-and-water barrier in roof valleys and around roof penetrations. These are some of the areas most vulnerable to leaks because they handle concentrated water flow or require openings through the roofing system.

Depending on the roof, protected areas may include:

  • Roof valleys

  • Plumbing vent pipes

  • Skylights

  • Chimneys

  • Roof-to-wall transitions

  • Other applicable penetrations and vulnerable areas

This additional protection helps defend against wind-driven rain and water that may work beneath the shingles or flashing.

Better Pipe-Boot Options

Pipe boots are a common source of roof leaks. In many cases, the shingles remain serviceable while the rubber seal around a plumbing vent deteriorates from sun exposure and weather.

Rather than offering only the most basic pipe flashing, we provide several upgraded options:

Premium Pivot™ Pipe Boots

A durable, premium flashing option designed to create a dependable seal around plumbing vent penetrations while accommodating the pipe’s position and angle.

Lifetime Pipe Boots

A long-lasting option for homeowners who want to reduce the likelihood of replacing a deteriorated rubber pipe-boot seal years before the surrounding roof needs replacement.

Lead Pipe Boots

A traditional, durable flashing option that can provide long-term protection around plumbing vent pipes when properly sized and installed.

We can recommend the appropriate pipe-boot option based on the roof, vent material, pipe position, budget, and homeowner preference.

Our Roof-Replacement Process

A typical shingle roof replacement may include:

  1. Protecting landscaping, siding, driveways, and work areas

  2. Removing the existing roofing materials

  3. Inspecting the exposed roof decking

  4. Replacing damaged decking when needed and authorized

  5. Installing drip edge where applicable

  6. Installing ice-and-water barrier in valleys and around penetrations

  7. Covering the remaining roof deck with synthetic underlayment

  8. Installing starter shingles

  9. Installing Owens Corning® Duration® architectural shingles

  10. Installing the selected pipe boots and required flashing

  11. Installing matching hip-and-ridge shingles

  12. Addressing roof ventilation as included in the approved scope

  13. Removing debris and magnetically sweeping the work area

  14. Completing a final inspection and cleanup

Your written proposal will identify the materials and work specifically included with your project.

Roof Repairs

Not every roofing problem requires a complete replacement. When a repair is a practical option, we will explain what we find and provide an honest recommendation.

Our roofing services include:

  • Roof-leak diagnosis

  • Missing or damaged shingle replacement

  • Pipe-boot replacement

  • Flashing repairs

  • Valley repairs

  • Roof-penetration repairs

  • Storm and wind-damage repairs

  • Fascia and soffit repairs

  • Small sections of damaged roof decking

  • Shingle roof replacement

  • Select metal-roof repairs

Roof repairs are subject to the condition and remaining service life of the existing roofing system. Exact color matching cannot always be guaranteed on aged shingles.

Quality Materials. Fair Pricing. Honest Recommendations.

Some roofing companies spend heavily on commissioned salespeople, large advertising campaigns, and high-pressure sales systems. Those costs ultimately become part of the price homeowners pay.

Mr. Mike’s Home Repair takes a different approach. We strive to operate efficiently, recommend what the home actually needs, and offer a quality roofing system at a highly competitive price.

Our goal is not to sell you the most expensive roof possible. Our goal is to provide the best combination of materials, workmanship, protection, and value that we can.
